Custom tags, keyrings, signs and display stands

COOLASER, a laser workshop in Italy, in Gaeta (LT), makes custom tags, keyrings, plaques, signs and acrylic (Plexiglas) display stands, using metal, wood, plastic and leather. It works for companies, professional offices, shops, hotels, restaurants and private individuals, from one-off pieces to series, including a different name or number on each piece. The price is requested with the online request form.

Custom tags: what they are and when they are needed

Custom tags are small plates engraved or marked by laser that carry a name, a logo, a number or an instruction, on a door, a desk, a set of keys or a product. The finish can be laser marking or engraving with colour fill; fixing is with holes, adhesive backing or rivets.

COOLASER works with four laser sources: COâ‚‚, diode, fibre (including MOPA) and UV, and chooses the source according to the material. Machine data plates and CE nameplates have a separate page, on CE nameplates and technical nameplates. Tags and keyrings are among the workshop's custom laser-engraved items.

Custom keyrings

Custom keyrings are laser cut and engraved in wood, acrylic and leather, with the desired shape, logo or name; on metal, logos and text are marked. They are used as promotional items, for hotel and B&B room keys, for estate agents and garages and as gifts. With variable data each keyring can have a different number or name, such as the number of each room. For corporate supplies there is the custom corporate gifts and promotional items page. A tag or a keyring can also be designed in the online editor, starting from a shape with the hole already made: the price appears while designing.

Name tags

Name tags show who works in an office, a practice or a shop: tags for doors and desks and name badges for staff. They are made in anodised aluminium, brass, steel, wood, acrylic or laminate, with name, role and logo, all with the same design and a different name on each.

Plaques and signs

Custom plaques and signs identify an entrance, a business or a place: house numbers, plaques for professional offices and companies, commemorative or entrance plaques, signs for shops and venues. For outdoor use, materials that withstand the weather are chosen, such as stainless steel, anodised aluminium and brass. Signs in wood or acrylic are cut to size and engraved on the same piece. House numbers, signs and commemorative or entrance plaques can also be requested with the request form dedicated to plaques, which covers both technical and decorative plates.

Acrylic display stands

Acrylic display stands are counter or wall holders laser cut to size, with engraved logos and text: menu holders, leaflet holders, QR code displays for tables and product stands. The pieces can be designed to slot together. A new display stand is designed with CAD design and prototyping; for venues there is the page on personalisation for restaurants and hotels.

Materials

The materials for tags, keyrings, plaques, signs and display stands are:

  • Metals: stainless steel, aluminium, anodised aluminium and brass.
  • Plastics: Plexiglas (PMMA) and other acrylics, ABS, PVC and laminate; PVC is not laser cut.
  • Wood: solid wood, plywood and MDF.
  • Leather: for keyrings.

The material can be supplied by COOLASER, or the customer can ship it or, on request, deliver it to the workshop.

Sizes and limits

The limits for tags, plaques, signs and display stands depend on the material and the size of the piece.

How it works

A custom tag, keyring or sign is ordered in four steps:

  1. Request: in the form, item, material, size, quantity, text or logo and lead time are specified.
  2. Quote: the workshop assesses material, finish and fixing and prepares the price.
  3. Production: design and position are agreed first; then the piece is cut, engraved and, if required, colour filled: every piece is made in Italy, in the COOLASER workshop.
  4. Delivery: shipping throughout Italy and abroad or, on request, collection from the workshop. Outside the European Union, any duties and customs charges are paid by the recipient.

What to prepare

A quote for a tag, a keyring or a sign requires size, material, text, number of pieces and type of fixing. The logo works best as a vector file (SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, DXF or DWG); for a different name or number on each piece, a list in an XLS file is convenient. The form accepts up to 10 files, 20 MB each and 30 MB in total; without a file, sizes and a description are enough.

Frequently asked questions

What material is a custom tag made of?

A custom tag is made in stainless steel, anodised aluminium, brass, wood, acrylic or plastics such as ABS and laminate. For outdoor use, stainless steel, anodised aluminium or brass are usually chosen.

Can a house number plaque be made?

Yes, the house number is one of the workshop's plaque types, in metal or plastic. It is fixed with holes, adhesive backing or rivets, and can also be requested with the form dedicated to plaques.

Are made-to-measure acrylic display stands available?

Yes, acrylic display stands are laser cut to size and engraved with logos, text and QR codes. The pieces can also be designed to slot together.

What is the difference between laser marking and engraving with colour fill?

Laser marking changes the colour of the surface without cutting into it; engraving with colour fill cuts the mark into the surface and fills it with colour. Both are available on plaques and tags.
